A Place to Pause

Comma is a modern bathhouse in Byron Bay designed for deliberate rest. The fitout covered multiple treatment rooms, a marble-heated Hammam, custom-formed hot and cold plunge pools, a bespoke Finnish sauna, pale showers and a series of skylights in curved, circular and raked forms. Technically demanding: wet areas, temperature-controlled environments and complex geometry throughout.

Made on Site

Kick’s carpenters made the reception counters, bathroom vanities and furniture on site in microcement, each piece specific to its space. The material consistency across the project is what gives Comma its atmosphere. Nothing off-the-shelf, nothing that breaks the experience. The built environment supports exactly what Comma is there to provide.
